This month Ace Jewelers introduced Holition Augmented Reality on the website, this is a new revolutionary technology, makes it possible to try on your favourite ring or wristwatch in front of a computerorlaptop.

Alon Ben Joseph of Ace Jewelers commented: “Holition allows our clients to explore products by “trying on” the Eternity Pave Ring in a virtual environment. The ability to use the software online is a huge benefit and one which will undoubtedly bring a novel and exciting new experience to Ace clients, and ultimately drive sales. We see this as the future of online retail and are delighted to be one of the first companies exploring this exciting new direction in luxury retail.

3D viewing is made possible in three simple steps:

Print out a paper ring, cut it out, and put it on your finger pointing the paper ring towards a webcam. The camera will then register the item and project the desired ring onto the screen –  you can thenview the model on your hand from different angles.

The Lexus Dutch Watch Heritage & Ace Jewelers

One of the hidden treasures of the Netherlands has come to light today!

 DWH

Watches were packed away in boxes, in drawers  or safes, or even visible on the wrists of proud owners, but today they can be viewed by all enthusiasts.

The Netherlands knows thousands of watch-lovers – People who sometimes have a fortune to spend on just that one special watch –that ultimate wrist–ornament: to possess  that wonder of refined mastery! From this inheritance ,the Lexus Dutch Watch Heritage, together with fascinated and passionate watch-lovers, brings  this exceptional event. Meant for the collectors who would like to display their treasures and for all others who feel drawn towards the unique world of the quality timepiece.

The Lexus Dutch Watch Heritage gathers together 100 rare or unique watches. These will be exhibited to the public at the Netherlands Gold-, Silver-, and Clock Museum in Schoonhoven on Saturday 27th June and then from Tuesday 30th June up to and including Sunday 5th July.

On these days you can visit the exhibition and admire models from top brands such as IWC, Rolex, Breitling, Jaeger Le Coultre and many others. Ace Jewelers will display a number of the latest timepieces next to this wonderful collection. Then you have the opportunity to look at and try the present-day models of IWC, Breitling,Edox, Tag Heuer and Omega.

Ace Jewelers shows watches with a long history -for example the IWC Big Pilot, the legendary Breitling Navitimer and also watches with very complex movements like the Edox Minute Repeater.

Readings on the Sunday give the subject more depth, and a taxation of one’s own watch allows active participation  to the event for the watch enthusiast.

The Netherlands’ only two honoured taxateurs, Anton Gaemers and Ronny Wooter have given their co-operation to, and will be present during the event. Anton Gaemers, timepiece- technician from the Hague, whose family have been active in chronometry since 1877, is the curator of the exhibition: ‘The Netherlands has probably more than a thousand serious timepiece collectors and it is fantastic to be able to exhibit the most beautiful and unique of this legacy’. Ronny Wooter, watch specialist from Sotheby’s, will share his expertise on taxation, amoung other subjects. Together these two gentlemen will provide lectures  about the history and value of watches.

Ace Jewelers will also provide a reading about watches and contemporary models.

In short, an exhibition full of narratives, romance and craftsmanship. Every watch has a story: the history of its origin, the specialities of the subject, the history of the brand and not forgetting the story behind the owner of the watch. Not only inspired timepiece technicians, but also pilots, racing-drivers, filmstarsand aspiring rivalling magnates figure in the story of watches.

The exhibition is open to the public on Saturday 27th June, 2009 and from Tuesday 30 June up to and including 5th July 2009. The entrance fee is EUR 6,- p.p.

Basel 2009: Team Ace Trade Show Review (Day 2)

As usual, today Team Ace started the day by visiting Hall 1.0 of BaselWorld! Our first meeting was at Breitling, and of course ,we started with the new Chronomat models with the manufacture B01 movement:

Breitling Chronomat 2009

Side view of the new Breitling Chronomat: great proportions. The watch looks 10 times better in real life.

Breitling Navitimer 125th Anniversary – Limited to 2009 pieces.

These are the two newest creations at Breitling, and on top of that they have  created some line extensions. A full report will follow later on.

After our 2 hours’ meeting with Breitling, we roamed  Hall 1.0, Hall 1.1 and Hall 5.1 where we were positively surprised by the high turn out of visitors and positive vibes in the hall. Many brands have gone  ‘back to the basics’. In styling, this means more classic designs, and many brands have gone back  to their roots (read: Vintage is still hot).

After visiting old friends and making new friends, we visited Seiko. Seiko is 120+ old manufacture that has also gone back to its roots. The new Seiko “Ananta” collection  not only presents  new hybrid Spring Drive movements, but also manufacture automatic movements, inspired by the original Samuari swords:

Yes, you simply activate and reset the chrono by turning the bezel!!! Amazing, isn’t it?

We did not have enough time to see  the complete collection, since we had to run to Longines for our next meeting. But, tomorrow we will return to Hamilton. Keep posted…

Longines has also gone back to their  roots and have brought back some legandary watches. We are rather keen on this one:

Basel 2009: Team Ace Trade Show Review (Day 1)

The BaselWorld trade show  starts on a Thursday, but Team Ace always travels to Basel on Sunday. We love to be in our stores on Saturdays and therefore choose to travel relaxed on a Sunday and have a smooth start.

Today we had a wonderful dinner with our friend and true artisan: Itay Noy of the exclusive and hand made watches “Itay Noy”.

Since the end of 2008 Ace Jewelers is the exclusive representative of these unique and limited edition timepieces, designed and manufactured by the artist Itay Noy in Europe.

Internationally-acclaimed Israeli artist Itay Noy, transforms telling time into a true art form. Each of his hand crafted, limited edition timepieces, is made exclusively in Israel and appeals to those seeking unusual, high-quality watches. The recipient of eight prizes, including the prestigious Andrea M. Bronfman Prize in 2007, Noy lectures on timepiece design at Bezalel in Jerusalem. His work has been exhibited in museums all over the world and acquired by the Charles Bronfman Collection in New York, The Droog Design in Amsterdam, The Israel Museum in Jerusalem and The Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Each timepiece tells a story in time — from broken dimensions in the Fractal collection to simultaneous dichotomy in Duality and elusive cityscapes in City Squares. Noy’s timepieces satisfy the desire for a sublime mixture of unique design and functional perfection. Ace Jewelers is proud to be the sole and exclusive retailer of Itay Noy Timepieces in Europe!

Tonight we ordered the first pieces to be presented at Ace & Dik Jewelers in the near future. But you do not have to wait –  you can see AND order the complete Itay Noy collection on our eBoutique:

Team Ace on Parool.TV

Het Parool is a leading daily Dutch newspaper and this year they started their own tv channel on www.Parool.tv! Last week they interviewed the CEO of Ace Jewelers, Alon Ben Joseph, after the official Launch Party of AceJewelers.com.

For the Dutch Readers, please visit: Parool.tv

The Hamilton Watch Company was founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (USA) in 1892. Its first series of pocket watches, Broadway Limited, became known as the “Watch of Railroad Accuracy”.

During the second decade of the 20th century Hamilton gained the prestigious rank of supplier to the US Armed Forces. During World War II, Hamilton stopped production of watches for consumers to concentrate on the huge task of providing the forces with a total of one million timepieces.

The secret assignment, “Project X”, lasted three years and in 1957 resulted in the introduction of the Ventura, the world’s first electric (battery-powered) watch. At 12.01 New York Time, on May 6, 1970, the world’s first digital watch started measuring time – made by Hamilton.

The special Hamilton/Hollywood relationship continued with roles in such films as Men in Black, Lethal Weapon 4, Fight Club, Independence Day, The Talented Mr. Ripley and You’ve Got Mail.

Hamilton made its mark on the world of horology by creating the world’s first battery-driven electrical watch, the legendary Ventura. Stamped with the seal of pioneers, the iconic Ventura has returned to centre stage more than a half century later in this limited-edition XXL interpretation. While it has preserved its highly emblematic triangular shape in a more generous dimension, the Ventura XXL Automatic is now powered by an automatic mechanical movement and its design has taken on a novel and futuristic identity.
