Team Ace SIHH 2011 Trade Show Review: IWC Watches

Yesterday Team Ace visited the annual SIHH Watch Fair in Geneva. The booth of IWC was totally renewed in to a film set in 1950s style based in Italy. Before we start sharing the news about the Portofino collection, here is all the other news that we heard at the SIHH and new models we ordered:

Limited Editions:

The annual Laureus Limited Edition in blue is this year a Vintage Ingenieur Automatic in stainless steel. It looks elegant.

Price: EUR 6.250 (including 19% VAT)

The last limited edition is one every one expected: The Portuguese Grande Complication in platinum! Sweet! As usual they only produce 50 years of the movements, so now the movements are divided over a platinum or red gold case!

Then there where four new dials: The stainless steel Big Ingenieur Chrono now comes in an all-black or all-white dial. Very clean and nice improvement. And, the Portuguese Hand-Wound that has been introduced last year also had a dial update, the “Panda Dials” are replaced with complete black or complete silvered dial. Like the limited edition Pure Classic models. Those have been delayed again, but don’t despair, we expect them this summer. Trust us, they are worth the wait.

Now, last but certainly not least, the Portofino collection… Complete new models, complete new movements and amazing watch straps made by one of the best shoe manufacturer in the world: Santoni! The most stunning model is the Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days. Complete new movement built on the famous Jones-calibre. Amazing movement with power reserve function and beautiful Santoni alligator straps. Unfortunately the next great model, Portofino Dual Time Automatic, will only be available in March 2012!!! Yes, there will be another SIHH fair before we will receive these watches. Then the fundamental Portofino automatic and chronograph models have received a new movement (special ETA movement designed for IWC), new case and are also available with new Milanese Mesh Steel bracelets.
